Auckland Airport is the largest airport in New Zealand. While the capital of New Zealand is located in Wellington, the largest city is Auckland, and the busiest tourist arrival point is the Auckland Airport.

Auckland Airport Parking

If you need to pickup some passengers that have arrived. For the most part you can collect your guests at the gate. If you need to park your car there are numerous carparks adjacent to each terminal. These are designed for stays of up to 2 hours. For longer term parking such as a day or a few weeks, there are dozens of car parking services nearby.

Domestic Flights

Flights from Auckland Airport to any New Zealand destination will take a maximum of 1.5 hours. Wellington, New Zealands capital city is just a 1 hour flight from Auckland. Local and regional flights are available from main local carriers Air New Zealand and Jet Star. Air New Zealand offers business class and economy flights to all major centres, and many provincial centres. Jet Star offers budget fares to the main centres such as Wellington and Christchurch. Jet Star offer a no-frills service without meals, and with limited baggage allowances for travellers. 

International Flights

International flights are provided by all the usual international airlines such as Qantas, British Airways and Singapore Airlines. You can fly from Auckland direct to most of the worlds major cities. Auckland to London, and Auckland to New York are examples of some direct flights. There are also many long-haul flights offered with stopovers in places like Sydney, Singapore, and Hawaii. Auckland Airport has the capacity to receive the largest aircraft such as the Airbus A380.

Local Tip

You can pickup and drop off your visitors at the international or domestic terminals right at the gate. No charge for entry by car. But you can't park there so make sure you say your goodbyes in the car, or arrange to meet them outside the terminal. Alternatively park in the terminal carpark for a few dollars.
